With the film makers anushka meenakshi and iswar srikumar at iffc. ( Independent film fest of chennai ).They screened their feature documentary 'Up down and sideways'. This great film has visuals and sound which revolves almost around everywhere in that hilly landscapes of the indian state nagaland's village phek and resonates the mind of the people and the spirit of the soil there. So, the better title could have been '360°'. It resembles 'War dance' and 'Foli' in its structure and rhythm . We could smell the mud feel the wind and fog over there. The standstill camera long takes and the prolonging silence followed by the song are all the salient features. In a specific shot in which we could see the women cultivating in mud and their reflections were shown in the watery land for which a song plays ' without you i am nothing'. This must be the philosophy of this film. As the soil says to the people 'without you i am nothing' and vice versa. 'Without the soil we the peolpe are nothing'.
Both of them deserved to be good ancestors for the next gen. Surprisingly this film got awarded in iffc.
